Reading Assignment #3

Having the digital coming into the physical world is a very exciting and interesting that makes us view art in a new perspective. I like the idea of sculptures turning into pixels. It kinda makes me want to do something similar to some of these projects

Pixel piece:

"Cardinal Sin"- Banksy

"The sculpture, a bust of a priest with its face removed and replaced by bathroom tiles to create a pixelated effect, is believed to be a comment on the sex abuse scandal that has overtaken the Catholic Church and its subsequent cover-up. The obscuring of the face through the bathroom tiles mimics the pixellation technique used to mask the identity of victims, an image frequently associated with the stories of sex abuse occurring in the Church." -HuffingtonPost

Question: Does anyone agree with James Bridle idea of New Aesthetic's biggest problem being a rip off from modern Aesthetic.

Title: Mexico City Veinte

Description: Some images are from my trip to Mexico City. I really enjoyed how Mexico City was full of art and many museums and so I tried to capture it. This city will hopefully be in my future because I would very much like to live there one day.

Description: An abstract collage of Los Angeles 10 years ago. I drew out and scanned the drawings. I used photoshop to color in the drawings.

Assignment #2

“Cut and Paste: Charlie White on the Collage Impulse today” by Charlie White

-It is interesting to see how far collaging has come, from the DaDa Movement all the way to now. I do agree with this article on how the adolescent youth has turned the collage aspect from something political, individual self of expression to a more commercialized consumer self of expression. 




-Would anyone consider the commercialization of collaging art?
