Augmented Reality Piece

Bloody Head

For my augmented reality piece, I ended up photoshopping one of my drawings of a beheaded female.
The floating head is found by the 5th floor elevator area of the Fine Art's building. The female's floating bloody head has a pleased beat up grin.I want the viewer to wonder what caused this floating bloody head. The floating bloody head could have been caused by a violent murder, representing death and violence.

Blood Mess
What I would like to do for my next project is a small GIF of a blood spill coming out of the 5th floor elevator in the Fine Art's building. I would record a short video/set of photos of spilled red nail polish. Then edit the short video/set of photos on photoshop and turn it into a GIF. I want the viewer to wonder what caused this blood puddle. The blood puddle will be slowly expanding that could have been caused by many scenarios. The moving blood puddle could have been caused by a murder, representing death and violence.

Reading Assignment #7

This article made me raise a lot of questions about our society and our government. For example, our society privileges advertisements and consumerism in our physical and visual environment. Why can't we be surrounded by art to help us raise questions or challenge our way of thinking? I believe our public spaces is a reflection of our culture, does this mean that our culture only thrives off consumerism? I feel the way we interact with our public space needs to be challenged and having augmented art pieces is a great way to change our capitalist consumerist ways.

Does anyone find the Public Ad Campaign beneficial as a psychological investment?

Project #3: Materialized

For my 3D conversion I chose to make this blocked pyramid. My idea was to have it look like a pixelated traffic cone. My process for my 3D conversion was to build it on Google SketchUp and convert it to a 3D model. I chose to build it from small cut up wood pieces, then painted it by matching the color.

Reading Response 4-2-13

Art Between the Digital and Physical World made me realize that pixel, glitch art is very intriguing because our day to day lives are becoming more involved or dependent on technological advancements. Having glitch sculptures in our environment or pixel art opens our eyes to the way we view our physical environment. Through distorting pieces from the norm, is very radical, in my opinion.

Many beautiful pieces can be created using 3D printers or just sculpting.

Video GIF

For my video GIF I had my roommate stomp as I recorded her feet stomping. I photoshopped for just the boots to show. I wanted them placed in the air so as if they were creeping quickly.

My photo still GIF was taken when I shook a beer bottle and had my roommate open the beer bottle as I took pictures.

Animated GIF

For my animated GIF I drew out the girl figure and photoshopped her for the graphic effects. I placed her in my kitchen surrounding her by open beer bottles and spilled pills. I wanted this girl figure to show her deadly combination of beer and pills making her hallucinate. Her hallucinations include bright neon colors and as if she was melting away.

Reading Assignment #5

The Sensorama Simulator device is a very interesting piece where you can use many senses.
This reminded me of the ride at California Adventures in Disneyland.
I believe it's called soaring over California.
It inputs sense and movement as well as visual.

Do you think these devices should only be used for entertainment purposes?

Assignment #4

“Pixels and Places- Video Art in Public Space“ 

It's interesting how video art is not a permanent piece as compared to graffiti being constantly painted and erased as well. 

Reading Assignment #3

Having the digital coming into the physical world is a very exciting and interesting that makes us view art in a new perspective. I like the idea of sculptures turning into pixels. It kinda makes me want to do something similar to some of these projects

Question: Does anyone agree with James Bridle idea of New Aesthetic's biggest problem being a rip off from modern Aesthetic.

Description: Some images are from my trip to Mexico City. I really enjoyed how Mexico City was full of art and many museums and so I tried to capture it. This city will hopefully be in my future because I would very much like to live there one day.

Assignment #2

“Cut and Paste: Charlie White on the Collage Impulse today” by Charlie White

-It is interesting to see how far collaging has come, from the DaDa Movement all the way to now. I do agree with this article on how the adolescent youth has turned the collage aspect from something political, individual self of expression to a more commercialized consumer self of expression. 




-Would anyone consider the commercialization of collaging art?
